Great skin at next to no cost

Who said good skin has to cost the earth? This seems to be one of the greatest misconceptions of our generations. Now hear me out, if you can afford the high end skincare products and enjoy the luxury of using them, well what can I say more power to you girl or boy.

For the rest of us average Joes; let me introduce you to the following skincare ranges that will cover all your needs for a glowing epidemis at a fraction of the cost; you would normally pay. Oh! and did I mention these will mainly be green beauty products some of which are organic.

Please give it up for boot botanicals, this product range is a testament to how large companies can achieve an ethical and sustainable beauty industry. Anyway, thats a story for another day, boots botanical range has 180 products that utilise plant extracts and the latest skincare advancements. I must mention boots have offers throughout the year, that means you can get these products for even less if you time your purchases wisely.

Cleansing water

Since the hype is still going strong for micellar cleansers, I thought I would include this one. I personally do not use them much execept for eye makeup removal. I have also noticed that there isn't any particular micellar water that is miraculous in make up removal, but this one by God tries, without all the nasties. Shall I remind you micellar waters are not cleansers; you will need to cleanse further after. Availabe at boots for £4.49, currently on offer; 3 for 2 on selected skincare products.

Botanics cleansing foam wash I love. Although this is called a foam cleanser it produces hardly any foam. It does what it's supposed to do. Removes any makeup residue and leaves your skin squeaky clean, It is also handy for those that use sonic bushes. I cannot see a change in my skin, but it cleanses well and preps the skin to receive what's to come next. I believe skin cleansers are not on my skin long enough to actually produce any significant results, so I want them to do what they claim and thats to remove all the makeup and cleanse full stop. Available at boot for £4.99 on offer at the moment too.

For those with dry senstive skin looking for an oil base cleanser, this Evolve gentle cleansing melt will do the job. Its a balm to oil consistency that turns into a milky consistency once in contact with water. Almost too gentle and might need a double cleanser to completely remove all traces of makeup. Availabe at naturismo for £18. I use this when my skin is tender and needs a delicate touch.

If you love your toners and do not mind alcohol in them, then the boots botanics is your friend. If you are like me and won't go near alcohol toners then this caudalie is a good alternative. As it contains a minimal amount of ingredients and is available at naturismo for £9.50. With toners it's all about preference really, other people say you need them some say you don't. I use them out of habit, my skin did just fine without them before, but am back on to using them again.

Exfoliation and masks there is actually no need to spend money on them, these can be easily catered for in your kitchen. I will do a separate blog post on a DIY 2 in 1 mask and exfoliation.

Serum and moisturiser

This is were I might suggest spending a bit more, not ridiculous amounts but just enough spend so that you can get high quality potent ingredients. I recommend the Evolve Organic Beauty hyaluronic serum 200 for a good moisture boost.

What it is

Evolve Hyaluronic Serum 200 is a miraculous pure clear serum that contains 200mg hyaluronic acid per bottle, proven to hydrate skin from within and plump up fine lines and wrinkles. Organic pomegranate extract softens and protects, and the serum is delicately fragranced with organic rosewater.

- A water based serum to instantly revive and nourish the skin

- Natural hyaluronic acid (200mg per bottle) and pomegrante plump, protect and firms the skin

- 99% natural and 24% organic

- Skin is left perfectly deeply hydrated, visibly restored and smoothed. Fine lines and wrinkles are minimised.

Key Ingredients

- Hyaluronic acid can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water making it a highly effective component in moisturisers. Hyaluronic acid helps to reduce wrinkles, making the skin look younger with an improved skin tone. This serum uses lower molecular weight Hylauronic Acid which penetrates deeper and has more effective hydrating properties. It also increases the production of collagen.

- Pomegranate is high in ellagic acid which helps to regulate cell turnover and strengthen the cell membrane, therefore limiting water loss and free radical damage.

Retails for £28 for 30mls. This is an excellent serum for a boost of hydration to be used alongside Liz Earle super skin face serum that is made specifically to target age concerns.

Liz earle claims this serum is enriched with their most powerful naturally active ingredients, the luxurious fast-absorbing Superskin Face Serum has been specially formulated to help slow the ticking, naturally.

Add Superskin Face Serum to your morning regime to…

1. Even skin tone – with Persian silk tree extract to help fight the visible signs of fatigue, such as a dull complexion. 2. Lift and firm – with pomegranate flower extract to help boost collagen. 3. Plump and smooth – with rhubarb extract to help intensely hydrate skin.

Contains naturally active ingredients

Retails price is £48 for 30mls

For the day time the Liz earle skin repair moisturiser for your particular skin type will be a nice addition. I do not think this face cream wins awards for any anti ageing benefits, but as an eveyday makeup base it does an amazing job at leaving the face fresh smooth and well hydrated with out weighing down oily skin types or leaving dry patches on dry skin.

Liz earle claims that this is a perfectly balanced moisturiser that softens, smoothes and conditions skin for a naturally healthy-looking glow. It is rich in naturally actives, including borage oil (a rich source of the essential fatty acid GLA) and natural antioxidants beta-carotene and vitamin E to replace lost moisture and help protect against dryness. It retails for £20.25 on lizearle.com

Now here is were I believe the magic will take place; you can use the Liz Earle super skin moisturiser anytime of the day, but I recommend at night, so your skin can take full advantage of all the goodness that comes in this pot.

Liz earle claims this is a delicately scented cream with natural neroli, rich in GLA, omega-3 and antioxidants to leave mature or very dry skin smooth, radiant and replenished – the greatest confidence booster there is. Featuring collagen-boosting pomegranate flower extract, together with cranberry seed, borage and rosehip oils for healthy, youthful-looking skin.

This product retails for £39 for 50mls on lizearle.com

This might seem like an expensive routine but it is not, you have invested money in the products that will make the most difference to your skin and a tailored rouitine like this should cost you no more than £150. If you are on a budget make use of websites like QVC, use boots coupon codes and naturismo.com do have offers often. I would say everything mentioned should last you about 6 months using them twice a day. If you know anything about skincare you know thats a good deal *wink*.

Love always
